Clarkson HI96747C
Copper Low Range Waterproof Photometer with 560 nm filter and Cal Check Kit
Hanna Instruments HI 96747C
Description
Copper is an important micronutrient, essential for plant and animal vigor. Copper is also
an important and versatile metal utilized in a variety industrial applications such as alloy production,
pigments, kitchen utensils, pipes and electrical wires. Copper salts are often employed to control the
growth of plankton and algae. In drinking water, concentrations of copper exceeding 1 mg/L can leave
a bitter aftertaste. HI 96747 is a robust auto-diagnostic portable photometer engineered to measure a
wide range of copper concentrations, from 0.000 to 1.500 mg/L. Thanks to the specially formulated
HI 96747-01 powder reagent, with long-term stability, copper analysis is possible even where iron and
calcium is present, such as in sea water. The advanced optical system of this photometer employs a
specialized tungsten lamp and a narrow band interference filter, assuring accurate readings. This
instrument is equipped with Cal Check® validation function and standards to validate good performance
at any time. Taking just a few short steps, the validation procedure is user-friendly and ensures that the
meter is properly calibrated wherever you go.
Hanna photometers use the exclusive ready-made, NiST traceable standards to verify the performance
of the instrument and recalibrate if necessary. Cuvets are constructed from specialized optical glass to
ensure the best and most consistent results. The positive locking system ensures that the cuvet is in the
same position every time it is placed into the measuring cell. Our sample cell is designed to fit a cuvet
with a wide neck to make it easier to add both sample and reagents. All instruments are factory calibrated
and the electronic and optical design minimizes the need for frequent calibration. Display messages aid
the user during routine operation. The auto-off feature will disengage the meter after 10 minutes of
non-use in measuring mode or 1 hour while in calibration mode. HI 96747 utilizes an adaptation of the
USEPA approved bicinchoninate method. The reaction between copper and the bicinchoninate reagent
causes a purple tint to the solution.
