Rectangular Developing Jars

 

The single most useful chamber for the TLC laboratory is a sturdy, molded-glass block of clear glass with flat surface walls, ground lip of uniform flatness, beveled inside and outside to remove any sharp edges. There is a raised ridge midway on the inside ends and bottom of the jar. Inside dimensions measure 27cm D x 7cm W x 26cm H (10 5/8 x 2 7/8 x 10") and weighing 15 pounds. The lid is flat, weighing 1 pound and measures 30 x 10 x 3cm (11 3/4 x 3 7/8 x 3/16"). Also available s a non-slip lid with Teflon® retainers inside and an external knob for easier lifting of the lid. Racks are 24 gauge stainless steel measuring 19cm W x 7cm D (7 1/2 x 2 3/4") weighing one pound. Another rack is aluminum multiplate and is hard anodized that measures 21cm W x 6cm D (8 1/4 x 2 1/2") also includes a stainless steel handle. (Jar alone will make an excellent museum, battery, or specimen jar.)

Latch-Lid ChromatoTanks

The Latch-Lid ChromatoTank® is a versatile laboratory product. The heavy glass constuction will withstand regular use for many years. The weight of this rugged tank (About 15 lbs) and ground flat bottom, lends stability against accidental contact. Clear glass sides allow unobstructed visual inspection of contents. The top of the ChromatoTank which is ground flat to match the ground glass latching lid, is beveled inside and outside to remove any sharp edges. The unique latching device holds the matching ground glass surfaces of the lid and tank firmly in place. Metal components of the latch-lid mechanism are made of stainless steel.

Chromatography for 10cm Plates
 
Designed for the development of 10 x 10cm or 10 x 5cm plates, this expanded line of tanks and accessories will accommodate up to two plates in the ThinLine model and up to six plates in the standard model with the hard anodized aluminum rack.
(Rack is also available with Teflon® coating.) These tanks are excellent for storing a series of test solvents for selecting the optimum solvent for separating unknown fractions.

The smaller cubic inch chamber allows for a faster and more uniform solvent-saturated atmosphere. This reduced chamber size also requires less solvent to obtain equilibrium. These single molded sturdy tanks have flat ground top, beveled for safety on the inner and outer rims, and the bottom has been ground flat for stability. A line of accessories are offered so the user may obtain maximum use of Thin Layer Procedures. The Latch-Lid units give excellent retention of the solvent saturated chamber. The unique latching device holds the matching ground glass surfaces of the lid and tank firmly in place. Metal componets of the Latch-Lid mechanism are made of stainless steel.

Traps aerosol droplets when spraying reagents into TLC plates, thus reducing health hazards from noxious reagents which would otherwise disperse into the laboratory atmosphere or fume hood.

This corrosion-resistant stainless steel enclosure is lined with glass cloth and should always be used in a fume hood. Water flows continuously an uniformly down the glass cloth liner, draining away through an outlet tube. Both aqueous and anhydrous aerosols are captured and flushed away. Adjustable, detachable chromatogram holder will support two glass plates, paper film or foil up to 33cm (13") wide and 50cm (20") long. Measures 41 x 18 x 76cm (16 1/4 x 7 x 29 3/4"H). Weighs 16 lbs.

The GW105-S Self Evacuating Cash Still complies with the American Society of Enologists- AOAC method to determine Acidity (Total Volatile) of wines. The steam chamber is heated by an 800 watt immersion coil that heats the distilled water to a boiling point in about 3 to 4 minutes. Two way Teflon stopcock fitted with funnel, permits addition of sample into inner chamber or serves as an escape vent for CO2. The Graham condenser has threaded fittings on the water feed and drain that makes the assembly and disassembly of the unit easier.

Aeration-Oxidation Sulfur Dioxide Apparatus

The apparatus incorporates modifications and improvements made over the years of practical laboratory experience with the aeration-oxidation (Vacuum aspiration) method. In the method, a stream of air is passed through an acidified wine sample carrying released SO2 through a condenser into a hydrogen peroxide trapping solution containing acid/base indicator. Precision of the analysis is dependent largely upon thorough consistent aeration and subsequent efficienttrapping in the H2O2 solution. The improved apparatus replaces the inefficient and imprecise Pasteur pipet sparging and impinger tubes with precise glass frits to assure thorough sparging the binding of SO. In addition, the use of glass frits results in an apparatus much less sensitive to small changes in the aspiration rate. Practical experience confirms the work of Dr. Rankine1 and others, which emphasize the necessity of using and efficient condenser to prevent volatile acids from being carried over. This apparatus employs a long and efficient condenser to prevent such carry over leading to false results.
